Advertising is a Chain Reaction.
In past few years I have made number of communities/groups etc on various social networking sites such as Orkut or Facebook just for the heck of it. Normally, only people you know would join it and that would be it.
Recently, I made a group on Facebook and just because I had nothing better to do that night I almost ended up sending around 50 invites to random people to join it. Half of them did, and a chain reaction started. 25 turned into 30 and 30 into 50, its not even been 10 days since the birth of the group and it already have 270 members as I last checked today.
So yes, whenever you need it, I am suggesting you should go for the advertisement, it pays off. Specially, if your product/service is of more important nature.

I suspect what you were advertising was yourself “Jony: Bored on a lonely night”
Ufff Orkut for occassional checking’s OK but I actually hate all the invitations for hi5, facebook et cetra et cetra coming in — eeeeh :P
hmm… interesting !
I have heard it for the first time that the term “advertising” is used for promotion of Orkut/Facebook Communities … :)
social networking sites r indeed ideal places to advertise even when the product is in a nascent state…do u know that the name “kurkuray” for these famous snacks was suggested by people on one of the orkut communities!
Orkut per kuch communities are worth it warna toh junk hai. I like DeviantArt and its clubs.
Fariha, it is a copied product which is sold in India by the name of Kararey and they have copied the product and modified its name.
Honestly, there’s nothing more irritating than such invitations. People actually read these things and even join the communities/sites??
I delete all such invitations without even reading them which is what any self-respecting person should do! :)
??
Wah bhai- popularity contest in a very in-your-face flaunting way.
All I could say is, good for you :)
